Villa Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Midland,Ontario and serves 160 residents. The community is a vibrant town on Georgian Bay and is approximately 50 km north of Barrie and 48 km north-west of Orillia. Midland is known as the gateway to the 30,000 islands and draws tourists with its natural beauty, water-based activities, and numerous parks and cottages. The town hosts various cultural events, such as the annual Butter Tart Festival, and has a lively downtown area with unique shops, restaurants, and a vibrant arts scene.
Join our team as a Personal Support Assistant!
Under the direction of the Registered Staff, the Personal Support Assistant is responsible and accountable for providing optimum services in the provision of activities of daily living, dining services, comfort and companionship to promote the quality of life and well-being of each individual resident. This support role involves core responsibilities across four main areas: providing Resident Support (daily comfort, activity and meal assistance, and lifting), meticulous Documentation and Communication (accurate record-keeping and reporting concerns), maintaining Environment and Safety (cleanliness, infection control, and safe food handling), and ensuring Compliance and Professionalism (adhering to safety regulations, participating in training, and positive interactions).
We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:
Secondary School Diploma preferred.
Experience in customer service or working with seniors preferred
Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
Ability to model the warmth of human connection in communicating with residents, families, and visitors
Sensitive and empathetic to the needs of others
Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education
Must be computer literate
Effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing
Successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening requirements as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss. 81 (2) and Ontario Regulation ss. 252 (1).
