Permitting Specialist
NATURE OF WORK
Responsible for obtaining Right-of-Way permits in support of telecommunications construction project. Responsible for procuring Right-of-Way permit submittal requirements from agencies and municipalities to include researching municipal ordinances, Right-of-Way records, permit application forms, engineering drawing requirements, insurance, bond and fee requirements and contractor registration requirements. Responsible for submitting and acquiring Right-of-Way permits from agencies and municipalities at the state and local level. Provides reports, deliverables and close-out documentation to customers in a timely manner. Ensures permit transactions and milestones are documented and monitored through spreadsheet and GIS tracking tools. Ability to interface with GIS software applications and agency on-line portals. Familiarity with understanding legal documentation and terminology.
REQUISITE SKILLS
Education / Certification:
- Associates degree or equivalent.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in the telecommunications industry required.
- Proven record in submitting and obtaining construction permits.
- Knowledge of local municipalities and other permitting agencies processes and procedures.
- Ability to read, understand and prepare technical documents.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to interpret engineering and construction plan and profile drawings.
- Ability to problem-solve computer tracking tool issues.
- Computer skills such as MS Office, MS Outlook, Google Docs, and Google Earth applications.
- Experience in ArcGIS online valued, but not required.
Other:
- Self-motivated and able to plan and organize workload effectively under minimal supervision.
- Able to adjust to changing priorities.
- Able to work in teams.
