Position Type: Time-limited 200 hours Work Experience Placement (United Way Work Experience Grant)

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, participants will:

• Engage respectfully with shelter guests and program participants

• Provide peer-based encouragement and emotional support

• Assist staff with program activities, group facilitation, and daily routines

• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment

• Complete basic documentation and daily logs

• Participate in regular supervision and feedback sessions

• Follow workplace policies, including confidentiality and boundaries

• Participants will not be expected to manage crises independently; all tasks are supported.

• Confidence and transferable skills for future employment

Eligibility

• Currently receiving BC Income Assistance or Disability Assistance, or federal equivalent

• Eligible under United Way Work Experience Grant criteria

• Legally entitled to work in Canada

• Willing to learn and participate in structured mentorship and training

Placement Details

• Duration: Time-limited placement 200 hours per grant guidelines

• Stipend: According to United Way Work Experience Grant

• Hours: Scheduled shifts, may include days, evenings, or weekends
