Patrol Deputy

The role of a Patrol Deputy is pivotal because they are the first line of defense in maintaining public safety and enforcing the law.  They are responsible for the preservation and protection of life and property. They respond to emergencies, conduct traffic stops, investigate crimes, and build relationships with the community.  Their presence deters criminal activity, ensures quick response times, and provides vital support to victims and citizens in need.  Patrol deputies also play a crucial role in gathering intelligence, de-escalating conflicts, and upholding justice, making them essential to a functioning and secure society.

 Requirements:

 - High school diploma from an accredited school or GED equivalent.

- Possess a valid driver’s license.

- Must be a U.S. citizen.

- Be at least 21 years of age.

- Louisiana P.O.S.T. Certified.

- Pass a thorough background screening, polygraph examination, and drug screen.

- Able to work rotating 12-hour shift assignments, including holidays, weekends, and declared state of emergency events.

 Special Requirements:

 -          Ability to run, walk, jump, sit, stoop, bend, climb, crawl, reach, pull, and twist.  This position requires physical agility and strength.

-          Able to wrestle with, restrain and handcuff a combative suspect when needed.

-          Must possess hand-eye coordination, including the ability to grip with the fingers and hands.

-          Must have clear or corrected vision.

-          Must be able to maintain a required level of proficiency in the use of firearms and evasive action/driving skills.

-          Must be able to effectively hear, communicate in a conversation, and recall relevant information.

-          Able to work under stressful, high-risk conditions.

-          Ability to make quick, accurate decisions in emergency situations.
