Hours:  80 Hours Bi-Weekly, Shifts will run from 11:45 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Reports To:  Director of Programs & Services

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

The Overnight Manager is responsible for providing leadership, operational oversight, and management support during overnight hours across all Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad Inc. (Ndinawe) sites. The Overnight Manager ensures the safety and well-being of youth, staff, volunteers, and facilities while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, provincial licensing requirements, and the organization's philosophy and values. The Overnight Manager serves as the primary management contact during overnight hours and provides direction and support to all overnight staff.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Promote Ndinawe’s mission, values, programs, and services.
  • Provide management oversight and support to all Ndinawe sites.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of organizational policies, procedures, licensing standards, and program expectations across all sites.
  • Understand and be committed to culturally centered service delivery reflective of Indigenous values.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to staff.
  • Respond to and provide direction regarding critical incidents, emergencies, behaviours that may reflect unmet needs, medical situations, and operational issues.
  • Ensure youth are safe, supported, and appropriately supervised.
  • Monitor staffing levels and coordinate emergency shift coverage as required.
  • Conduct regular communication with staff to ensure continuity of service delivery and appropriate support for youth.
  • Review documentation including daily logs, incident reports, MAR forms, census records, and other required documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete and submit incident reports and notifications to Licensing, Social Workers, the Director of Programs and Services, and the Executive Director as required.
  • Ensure proper communication and information sharing between overnight staff and daytime leadership teams.
  • Conduct site visits throughout the shift to monitor operations, facility conditions, and youth well-being.
  • Act as the primary management contact for all overnight operational matters.
  • Support staff in maintaining healthy and appropriate boundaries with youth.
  • Fulfill reporting requirements and participate in evaluation processes as required.
  • Attend management meetings and training as directed by the Director of Programs and Services.
  • Perform other duties consistent with this position and organizational needs.

HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and support to staff.
  • Assist with orientation and training of new employees.
  • Monitor staff performance and communicate concerns, successes, and training needs to the Director of Programs and Services and Human Resources.
  • Support staff success by addressing and documenting attendance or workplace concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the implementation of Human Resource policies and procedures.
  • Foster a team-oriented work environment that reflects Ndinawe's values, philosophy, and strategic plan.
  • Contribute to staff evaluations, employee relations matters, and recruitment processes as requested.

FACILITY MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY

  • Ensure all facilities maintain a healthy, safe, and secure environment while maintaining licensing standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify safety concerns, maintenance issues, and licensing compliance requirements.
  • Ensure timely reporting of repairs, maintenance concerns, and facility emergencies.
  • Monitor security systems and act as a liaison with emergency services when required.
  • Ensure fire safety equipment, alarm systems, and emergency procedures are maintained and followed.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
  • Ensure organizational vehicles are secure, maintained, and any concerns are reported to Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  • Post-secondary education in the social services field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a management or supervisory role is required with demonstrated experience with administrative, human resources, programming facilitation and financial responsibilities.
  • A combination of appropriate employment history, volunteer work and life experiences will be considered.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships with young people.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative/innovative in developing strategies to connect with and provide support to youth.
  • A strong knowledge of the developmental needs of youth and the issues relevant to them.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of independence and self-initiative.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with reliability and consistency in work performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and ability to resolve conflict in a healthy and mature manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, respectful relationships with youth, staff and community.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions with an ability to respond effectively and positively in diverse situations.
  • Proficiency in computer use including Microsoft 365 applications (word, excel, forms, etc.).
  • Current Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check required.
  • Level C CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

Ndinawe requires a satisfactory criminal record check (including vulnerable sector search), child abuse registry check, and Prior contact check prior to the commencement of employment.

Ndinawe will accept existing criminal record checks and child abuse registry checks if dated within 3 months of your start date. Should you be the successful candidate these documents are a condition of employment.
