Calibration Technician – Onsite/Field (100% Travel)

San Antonio, TX Full-time $21.00-$25.00/year

About Alltite, a JM Test Systems Company

Alltite is part of JM Test Systems, an ISO 17025-accredited metrology, calibration, repair, and electrical safety testing company with locations across Louisiana, Texas, Illinois, Missouri, and Pennsylvania. Together, we help customers keep their critical instruments accurate, compliant, and ready to perform, in our labs and onsite.

Job Summary — The Opportunity

Our customers can't always bring their instruments to the lab, so we bring the lab to them. As a Field Calibration Technician with Alltite, a JM Test Systems company, you'll travel to customer sites across South Central, Southern, and Gulf Coast Texas to calibrate, repair, and certify test instruments right where they're used.

In this role, you will apply measurement science across electrical, dimensional, physical, mechanical, and optical disciplines, working out of mobile labs and travel trailers. You'll start with about 6 weeks of training at our Wichita or Clute lab, then head into the field, working independently with support from onsite managers and administrative staff who handle direction and scheduling.

This is a road-centric role. You'll thrive here if you genuinely enjoy travel and working independently, and want to build a specialized career in metrology.

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

·        Plan each site visit. Review job assignments and set priorities and details for every customer visit.

·        Assess and prepare instruments. Evaluate instrument condition, diagnose service needs, and clean instruments to code and sensitivity requirements.

·        Calibrate, correct, and certify. Analyze measurement data to find out-of-tolerance conditions, correct them through adjustments, component replacement, or correction factors, and certify instruments meet performance standards.

·        Build procedures when needed. Research and develop calibration procedures and methods from technical specifications, blueprints, and drawings.

·        Deliver accurate documentation. Record calibration data and complete reports, certificates, and service paperwork on time for return to the customer.

·        Be the face of the company onsite. Provide excellent, professional service to customers across the region.

What You Bring

·        Required: High school diploma or GED.

·        Required: Comfort with general math, algebra, and basic statistics, plus basic computer skills.

·        Required: Ability to read, interpret, and apply calibration procedures, set priorities, and work independently with limited supervision.

·        Required: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

·        Required: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions, and sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs.

·        Preferred: Associate's degree, technical trade school, or military training in measurement science, calibration, or a related field.

Travel & Schedule

Travel is the core of this job, not an occasional part of it. Please be prepared for:

·        100% field-based work, with a goal of 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year on the road (minus PTO and holidays)

·        Regular overnight stays

·        Outdoor work and use of mobile labs and travel trailers
