IMC is looking to hire a Nurse Practitioner, PRN at our Jeanerette Rural Health Clinic (JRHC). The Nurse Practitioner applies the nursing process, effectively interacting with patients and other health team members, while maintaining standards of Advanced Nurse Practice.  As Manager, the Nurse Practitioner directs the personnel, budgetary and general operational activities of the clinic. Under indirect supervision, provides independent primary care in a variety of clinical settings to a specific population of non-emergency patients.  Provides consultation and advice to others as a family nurse practitioner.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

  • Master’s level preparation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current license to practice as an APRN in the State of Louisiana is required.
  • Current national certification by a national organization recognized by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing is required.
  • CPR Certification must be up to date prior to completion or orientation and assuming the position

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working in an outpatient, primary care setting is desired but not required. 
  • Experience in nursing management is also desired but not required

PRINCIPLE TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs medical examinations and evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, consultation, and health education
  • Obtains patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Provides health education to students, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups, within area of specialty
  • Supervises and/or coordinates the activities of patient care and/or support staff
  • May participate in planning programs and in developing specific health policies and procedures
  • Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods
  • Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned
  • Makes decisions continually on a variety of complex problems while rendering patient care and managing clinic business.
  • Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance), JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), and state regulatory standards.
  • Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or "hands-on training" and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
  • Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
