Maintenance Technician
About the Role:
PBS Facility Service is seeking an experienced and reliable Handyman to join our team and oversee the day-to-day maintenance of building systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in general repairs,
preventative maintenance, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
What You Will Do:
• Manage daily maintenance and repair activities across the building, ensuring tasks are completed
on time and to a high standard.
• Coordinate with contractors and repair crews for outsourced work and ensure work is properly
completed.
• Complete and update all work orders through the work order system and ensure they are
processed correctly.
• If a work order cannot be completed, update the notes in the work order system to reflect the
status.
• Keep accurate logs for building systems inspections, including fire extinguishers, sprinklers,
elevators, and other systems as required by law.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on both interior and exterior building components.
• Perform regular inspections of all common areas to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Inspect vacant units and prepare them for rental; perform a walk-through 30 days before tenant
move-out and address any necessary repairs.
• Obtain and document all inspections, ensuring quality control before each inspection.
• Maintain jobsite safety, cleanliness, and health standards at all times.
• Verify that all work is performed at a high standard of craftsmanship.
• Complete all project documentation and reports as required.
• Clean and replace HVAC filters for apartments twice per year and change filters for common areas
and rooftops quarterly.
• Respond promptly to all emergency calls and be available for after-hours support when necessary.
• Keep tools safe, organized, and properly maintained.
What It Takes to Be Successful:
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Proficiency in basic repairs for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Experience in painting, plastering, sheetrock, and carpentry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety standards, with a valid S-95 Fire Safety Certificate.
• Ability to safely use and maintain tools and equipment associated with the job.
