LPN Orthopedic Clinic

IMC is currently hiring a Full Time LPN - Orthopedic Clinic who is responsible for rendering safe nursing care to patients; supervising, directing, and monitoring the nursing care assigned to her/him. The LPN must be able to recognize/identify, report and document changes in patient’s condition and comply with all hospital and departmental policies. Ensure that all exam rooms are stocked with necessary supplies as well as assist physician/NP in clinic.  Assist MD with phone calls to patients/caregivers and pharmacies.  The LPN must have knowledge of medications administered as well as appropriately document any sample medications disbursed in clinic.  A log of all sample medications are to be keep current and any expired medications to be disposed of according to hospital policy. The LPN must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria for the adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.

EDUCATION:

• Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
• Current license as an LPN in the state of Louisiana.

TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

• Previous experience preferred, but not required. 

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

• Basic knowledge of nursing process and principles
• Basic knowledge of biology and chemistry.
• Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Thorough knowledge of nursing procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with other team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assesses, collaborates and coordinates in planning of patient's discharge needs and readiness for discharge.
• Participates in departmental and hospital improvement plan.
• Functions as a positive role model for peers and promotes a professional image of Iberia Medical Center.
• Maintains confidentiality, security, and integrity of patient and organization
