Position Summary:
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food according to restaurant recipes and quality standards. They work as part of the kitchen team to ensure timely service, food safety, and consistency in dish presentation. This role requires strong attention to detail, multitasking, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.


1. Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare ingredients, including chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and making sauces.

  • Cook menu items according to restaurant recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.

  • Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and stovetops.

  • Monitor food temperatures and follow food safety regulations.


2. Station Management

  • Set up and stock cooking stations with necessary supplies.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the shift.

  • Assist with plating and presentation to meet restaurant standards.

  • Communicate with kitchen staff and servers to ensure smooth service.


3. Food Safety & Sanitation

  • Follow all health and safety guidelines, including proper food storage and handling.

  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and utensils.

  • Adhere to restaurant policies for hygiene and food safety compliance.


4. Team Collaboration & Efficiency

  • Work closely with fellow kitchen staff to ensure timely food production.

  • Adapt to changing order volumes during peak hours.

  • Follow direction from chefs and kitchen managers to improve efficiency.


5. Inventory & Waste Management

  • Monitor ingredient levels and communicate shortages to management.

  • Minimize food waste through proper portioning and storage.

  • Assist in receiving and stocking food deliveries.


Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or kitchen staff preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.

  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen equipment.

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.

  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items when necessary.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
