Starting Pay: Minimum $22.50/hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Full-time; may require overtime, evenings, and weekends

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic Level B to perform maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment. This position requires solid mechanical knowledge, the ability to diagnose common mechanical issues, and a strong commitment to safety and reliability. The ideal candidate will work independently with minimal supervision while supporting daily fleet operations.
Licenses & Certifications
Applicants must possess a Driver's License valid in the State of Maryland. Applicants must list the license number and date of expiration on the application.
The B-Mechanic inspections, performs preventive maintenance and repairs a variety of buses and Trash trucks mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and their components.
Minimum Education: Must be 18 years of age. Possession of high school diploma or equivalency (GED) certificate recognized by the State of Maryland.
Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience in bus/ trucks/ heavy trucks/vehicles/heavy vehicles and/or construction equipment; tractor trailers or passenger buses and their components and systems, or similar work on equipment in a related field.
Substitution Information:
Completion of a four-year vocational or technical high school course of instruction in mechanics maintenance or a related field, formal technical training or on-the -job training in an approved apprenticeship program may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-ear basis for the required education and experience.
Special Requirement:
Employee will be required and maintain a reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
Employee may be required to work shifts, evenings, and weekends and overtime.
Employee is required to work Monday through Friday (schedule is negotiable)
Employee must have reliable transportation
Employee must pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to random drug screens
Employee may be exposed to a variety of hazards, requiring the wearing of protective clothing and the use of appropriate safety and Personal Protective Equipment.
Employee Must have own tools necessary to perform the job functions of this position
Diagnose and repair medium level issues (Brakes, Lights, Hydraulic)
Doing Preventive Maintenance Inspections and Regular Services on all fleet vehicles
Repair and Change parts when needed
Some Diagnostic capabilities
Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc
Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner
Reports any safety issues immediately to management
Other tasks as assigned.
Environmental Condition:
The employee may travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MBG service area, in all types of weather conditions. Employee may be exposed to a variety of hazards including, but not limited to, toxic materials and fumes, asbestos, flammable, or combustible agents; any of which may require the use of personal safety equipment such as hard hats, hearing protection, protective eyewear/footwear, and respirators.
Applicant must be able to perform the physical aspects required in a heavy maintenance shop environment including climbing, bending, crouching, stretching, and lifting objects weighing at least 60 lbs.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
