Kingston - Senior Structural Engineer

Kingston, ON Full-time $110000.00-$130000.00/year

We're looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead structural projects from our Kingston office. You'll be our only structural team member in Kingston, but never on your own: the Barrie team is in touch daily by Teams, email and phone, and you'll be part of our meetings and team conversations. Contact with Barrie is mostly virtual, apart from onboarding and periodic visits for company events.

What You'll Do

• Lead structural engineering projects from planning through completion, with a focus on quality, cost-effective delivery, safety and compliance

• Act as Project Manager on single-discipline projects, keeping them on time and on budget

• Coordinate with our Project Management team to keep multi-disciplinary projects on plan

• Write proposals and reports, review designs, and coordinate with vendors and clients

• Apply OBC Part 4, CSA A23.3, CSA S16, CSA S136 and CSA O86 in your design work

• Visit construction sites and build working relationships with contractors and clients in the Kingston area

• Provide technical guidance, training and mentorship to your team

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering

• P.Eng. designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)

• 8+ years of experience in a structural engineering role

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and structural analysis software such as SAFI GSE, S-Frame, spSlab, MASS and WoodWorks; basic coding experience is an asset

• Comfort with regular field work - construction sites, contractors, and building relationships in the Kingston area are a regular part of this role

• A client-focused work ethic and an entrepreneurial approach

• A collaborative mindset: you speak up, share your perspective, and respectfully challenge the team when you see a better way

What We Offer

• Work alongside Professional Engineers, Engineering Interns, Designers and Drafters

• 37.5-hour work week and a hybrid work arrangement

• Medical and dental coverage, life and critical illness insurance, long-term disability, and an Employee Assistance Plan

• Matched RRSP and DPSP contributions

• Health and Wellness Spending Account

• Reimbursement of professional licensing fees

• Paid sick time and bereavement leave, plus 5 extra "YAY Days" when you use all your vacation

• Employee discounts through Perkopolis

• Ongoing professional development, and chances to join our charitable initiatives through the year
