Project Safety Advisor

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a safety leader, advocating for a strong safety culture among workers, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Monitor worksite activities to ensure adherence to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) legislation, client safety programs, and company-specific policies.
- Engage in site operations and planning to proactively integrate safety considerations into daily tasks.
- Identify and address non-compliance issues, offering practical solutions to align with safety regulations and best practices.
- Intervene in unsafe work practices and conditions, taking immediate action to promote a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Participate in incident investigations, providing insights on root causes and preventative measures.
- Track and follow up on corrective actions stemming from investigations, audits, and hazard reports.
- Lead and contribute to safety meetings, ensuring key safety topics are effectively communicated.
- Stay informed of regulatory updates and industry best practices to maintain compliance and enhance workplace safety.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety advisory role, preferably in oil & gas, civil construction, or plant operations.
- Must have certification as National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma.
- Strong working knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation and industry-specific safety requirements.
- Valid safety certifications, including H2S Alive, Standard First Aid/CPR, Confined Space Entry/Monitor, and CSO.
- A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence safe behaviors.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and initiative.
- Willingness to work across Western Canada, on remote sites, work outdoors, travel as needed, and adapt to rotational schedules.
