Spanish Language & Culture Instructor

Montréal, QC

Contract Period: October 6 to November 25, 2026

About the Program

Our Spanish Language & Culture program introduces elementary school children to Spanish through an engaging combination of language learning, cultural discovery and hands on activities.

Rather than focusing solely on vocabulary and grammar, the program encourages children to experience the richness and diversity of Spanish speaking cultures through games, music, art, food, traditions, stories, geography and celebrations.

Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative instructor who can make Spanish accessible, engaging and fun for elementary aged children.

The instructor will create and lead weekly lessons that combine age appropriate Spanish language instruction with interactive cultural activities. The goal is for children to develop confidence with basic Spanish while becoming curious about the many countries, traditions and communities that make up the Spanish speaking world.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging weekly Spanish Language & Culture classes for elementary aged students

• Teach age appropriate vocabulary, expressions and conversational Spanish through games, movement, songs, stories and interactive activities

• Introduce students to cultures from different Spanish speaking countries and regions

• Incorporate creative activities such as art, music, dance, food exploration, storytelling, traditions and celebrations

• Create opportunities for students to use Spanish naturally during activities rather than relying exclusively on formal instruction

• Adapt activities to different ages, abilities and levels of familiarity with Spanish

• Maintain a positive, inclusive and well managed classroom environment

• Prepare required materials and communicate material needs in advance

• Encourage participation, curiosity and respect for different cultures

• Ensure that activities are safe and appropriate for the age group

What We Are Looking For

• Strong proficiency in Spanish

• Experience working with elementary aged children

• Enthusiastic, energetic and comfortable leading a group

• Creative approach to teaching and learning

• Genuine interest in Spanish speaking cultures and an ability to present their diversity thoughtfully

• Ability to make language learning playful and accessible

• Reliable, organized and comfortable working independently

Previous teaching or facilitation experience is an asset, but we are especially interested in someone who knows how to connect with children and make them excited to participate.

The Ideal Instructor

The ideal instructor understands that children learn languages best when they have a reason to use them. One week they might be ordering food from a pretend café in Spanish. Another week they might discover a celebration in Mexico, learn a game played by children in Colombia, explore music from Cuba, create art inspired by Spain or learn about animals from the Amazon.

We want children to leave each class having learned some Spanish, but also feeling that they discovered something new about the world.

What We Offer
  • A fixed-term contract  of 1 hour a week for 8 to 10 weeks
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • The opportunity to inspire young learners through language and culture.
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact in students’ educational journey.

If you are passionate about teaching and enjoy making language learning fun and engaging for children, we’d love to hear from you! Please submit your résumé along with a brief summary of your teaching experience and Italian language proficiency.
