Reports To: Director of Human Resources
Term Full-Time (37.5 hours per week)
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm with ½ hour unpaid meal break
Wage Range: $25.95 to $30.18 based on education and related experience.
The ASK Wellness Society is an Accredited, not-for-profit organization. Position Summary: The Human Resources Specialist works in collaboration with Operations, Communications and Finance and is responsible for implementing and executing human resource initiatives including but not limited to performance management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, compensation, training, on-boarding and recruitment. This position is an integral part of a busy and dynamic non-profit society.
Typical Duties Include:
- Complete full cycle recruiting including but not limited to managing job postings and maintenance, filtering applications, scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, conducting reference checks, preparing, and presenting employment offers.
- Maintain human resources information including but not limited to employee files, training requirement tracking, probation tracking, onboarding documentation as well as related records systems in accordance with Society policies and procedures.
- Implement and execute all human resource initiatives including performance management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, compensation, training, and recruitment.
- Assist with developing and maintaining human resources software used for recruiting, onboarding and online learning.
- Assist with ensuring Employee’s Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) documentation is valid and up to date.
- Develop strong relationships with both employees and management while ensuring organizational consistency and that policies and procedures are being followed.
- Assist with reviewing and solving employee relations concerns and providing information and recommendations to the Director of Human Resources.
- Assist with Employee property set up such as but not limited to phones, laptops, and tablets.
- Monitor and maintain yearly staff recognition awards and employee referrals.
- Plan and participate in job fairs and/or recruitment events and activities.
- When requested, be a member of the Society’s Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) team.
- Ensure compliance with all Society policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management and/or equivalent is required.
- 2 years of Human Resources experience is required.
- CPHR Designation or equivalent considered a definite asset.
- Knowledge of Employment Standards and WorkSafe an asset.
- Must be familiar with Office 365 and SharePoint
- Experience with managing/navigating a Learning Management System (LMS) and/or Applicant Tracking System (ATS) an asset.
- Good communication, documentation, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
- Must be comfortable working in close quarters with a team.
- Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time efficiently.
- Must be organized, self-motivated, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality.
- Ability to work within a team-based environment involving multi-agency supports.
- Understands and maintains professional boundaries.
- Must pass an acceptable criminal record check for the vulnerable sector.
- Readiness to complete in-house online training within the first month of employment.
