Housekeeper
A skilled nursing facility (SNF) housekeeper ensures a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for residents by performing daily, comprehensive cleaning of resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas. They follow strict infection control policies, manage sanitation, and replenish supplies, often requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull equipment, and stand for extended periods.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Resident Room Cleaning: Daily cleaning of resident rooms, including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning windowsills, and disinfecting furniture and fixtures.
- Sanitation & Infection Control: Deep cleaning bathrooms, showers, and, if needed, isolation rooms, using approved disinfectants to prevent the spread of infections.
- Common Area Maintenance: Cleaning hallways, lounges, dining areas, nursing stations, and offices to maintain a presentable environment.
- Waste Management: Emptying trash containers in resident rooms and common areas, and ensuring proper disposal of waste.
- Environmental Upkeep: Removing soiled linen, stocking supplies (soap, paper towels), cleaning equipment, and organizing carts.
- Safety & Compliance: Reporting maintenance issues, following safety guidelines, and respecting residents' rights and privacy.
Qualifications and Physical Demands:
- Experience: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; on-the-job training is often provided.
- Physical Skills: Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Stamina: Must be able to stand on feet for at least four hours.
- Communication: Ability to read and understand safety instructions and communicate with staff and residents.
