Akiba Yavneh Academy seeks a passionate and energetic College Guidance Counselor to work with our student body of approximately 110 students in grades nine through twelve. The College Guidance Counselor will lead the college search and application process and help students to seek a "best fit" college. The ideal candidate must be sensitive to the needs of Modern Orthodox students and their families and fully cognizant of, and sensitive to, the overall mission of AYA.

The ideal applicant will possess the following skills/qualifications:


• Relevant professional experience: college admissions or high school college counseling experience strongly preferred, as well as a knowledge of current high school credit requirements and scheduling. 

• Very strong written and verbal communication skills

• Outstanding organization skills, abundant energy, and the ability to be flexible and work hard

• A high level of technological fluency and comfort with database systems; familiarity with Naviance preferred

• Ability to communicate successfully with parents, students and faculty

• An eagerness to remain current in national trends in college counseling and admissions, and a desire to learn and grow as a professional

• Serve as a general resource for students and parents regarding admission criteria, college data and Jewish life on campus

• Establish and maintain strong relationship with college admission directors and officers

• Understand the college admission process at a variety of institution types and selectivity levels

• Work effectively one-on-one with students

• Assist students with their college applications including  the resume and essays

• Write school recommendations for members of the senior class

• Educate students on appropriate interviewing techniques

• Guide students and others in understanding and using Naviance, the college admission data management system

• Organize and run educational programs for students and parents

• Coordinate AP and PSAT testing
