Géologue - Ingénieur en géologie / Geologist - Geological engineer
Reporting to the geology drilling supervisor, the geologist/geological engineer will be responsible for the daily monitoring of the drills assigned to him/her, the description of cores and sampling. He/she will work at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, on a schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation and meals provided when traveling to the site.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
• Ensure the knowledge and respect the standards relating to health and safety at work and implement corrective measures;
• Know and respect environmental laws and regulations relating to the workplace;
• Describe the drill core using appropriate software (lithological description, sampling);
• Send daily drilling reports;
• Monitor drill rigs and drill holes deviations;
• Produce borehole summaries;
• Participate in health, safety and environmental inspection visits to underground drilling sites;
• Ensure that field work is carried out in compliance with operational directives (E3, partner directives) and government legislation (mines, forestry, environment, CNESST, municipalities and MRC);
• Carry out any other task related to the position of geologist/geological engineer that is relevant to the success of the project.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• University degree in geology or geological engineering;
• Member of the Ordre des géologues du Québec (OGQ) or the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a geologist/geological engineer;
• Have a valid class 5 driving license;
• Have completed the mining modules 1-2-3-4-5 and 7 (an asset).
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Knowledge of the spoken and written English language (an asset);
• Good experience using the Microsoft Office suite, as well as specialized software such as Leapfrog, DHlogger and Datamine (Studio RM);
• Knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites (an asset).
BASIC SKILLS
• Be an excellent team player, demonstrate tact and have good political sense;
• Have a good capacity to adapt and be open to changes constructive comments;
• Have a good sense of organization and a good ability to recognize priorities;
• Be autonomous, have initiative and be able to handle several files simultaneously;
• Be rigorous and demonstrate ethics and integrity.
