Driver/Installer – McCrum’s Job Description
Job Summary
We are looking for motivated and reliable Driver/Installers to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for safely delivering furniture to
customers and collaborating with the team to build and install furniture
on-site. Ideal candidates have strong 5-ton truck driving skills, a customer-focused
approach, and a sharp attention to detail.
Applicants must currently live within the greater Calgary area for consideration.
Responsibilities
- Delivery & Transport: 3 & 5-ton truck transport, safely load ( including wrapping and strapping), and unload furniture items from the warehouse or store to the client location, ensuring items are securely handled during transit.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck, tools, and equipment. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safe operation.
- Warehouse Tasks: Assist in warehouse tasks, such as organizing and preparing furniture for delivery, as needed.
- General Labour: Strap Loading and Unloading Trucks, Carrying and placing product to install area using dollies, panel carts and best practices for furniture movement.. Vacuum and sweep area/product of debris. Moving Furniture products from truck on to customer site staging areas. Assist in installation as needed.
- Quality Control: Inspect items before and after transportation for assembly to ensure they are free from damage during transportation and setup.
- Technical Skills: Read and interpret schematics to understand project requirements and layout. Submit Electronic reports as required.
- Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to confirm setup preferences, provide guidance on furniture usage, and address any concerns or questions about the products.
- Site Preparation & Cleanup: Prepare the installation site by positioning furniture correctly, drilling and securing items where necessary, and leaving the workspace clean and orderly.
- Troubleshooting & Repairs: Identify and resolve issues with furniture pieces, such as adjustments or minor repairs, and report any major concerns to supervisors.
- Documentation and Digital Entry: Complete full cycle truck inspections, installation reports, inventory logs, safety processes, and other paperwork requirements electronically.
- Health & Safety: Must follow all applicable Occupational Health & Safety policies, having all PPE with you.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge in framing, dry walling, cabinet making, carpentry, or furniture making is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in furniture moving, delivery driving, or a similar role is preferred.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively is required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
- Computer and Software Literacy of Microsoft 365 applications is an asset.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials up to 75lbs is required.
- Class 5 Drivers License and current 3-year Driver’s abstract is an asset
- Evening and Weekend work is required.
- Ability to complete criminal record checks or pre-site access substance use testing.
