Full Time Endoscopy Technician
JOB TITLE: ENDOSCOPY TECHNICIAN
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: DIRECTOR OF NURSING
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or GED certification
2. Good communication skills
3. CPR certification
4. Strong ethical and moral character references
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Communication
A. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and
co-workers
B. Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
C. Conducts self as a positive role model and team member
D. Respects patients’ rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
E. Documents completely and accurately in procedure room
II. Duties
A. Performs specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure
B. Inspects and confirms that instruments work properly
C. Follows principles of aseptic technique and prescribed procedure room procedures
D. Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays
E. Correctly uses, cares for and cleans instruments, supplies and equipment, using high level disinfectants per policy and according to Manufacturer’s Instructions.
F. Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety
G. Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician
H. Assists the physician in the procedure room according to established guidelines
I. Addresses patient needs during admission to the endoscopy room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting
J. Identifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and communicates with all members of the medical team
K. Provides comfort, reassurance to patient and maintains patient’s privacy and dignity
L. Explains procedures and care to the patient
M. Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care
personnel and documenting records accordingly
N. Performs with competence in emergency situations
O. Post-procedure phone call to follow up with patient day after procedure
P. Ability to check in patients if receptionist is absent
