Job Summary:The Fruit Cutter will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and portioning various types of fresh fruits in a safe and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a passion for food quality, and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen or food prep area. This role is crucial to ensuring that customers receive fresh, high-quality fruit products for consumption.
Key Responsibilities:Fruit Preparation:
- Wash, peel, core, and slice various types of fruit (e.g., apples, pineapples, melons, berries, etc.) according to company specifications.
- Cut fruits into uniform portions or decorative shapes for packaging, salads, or other presentations.
- Ensure all fruit is free from blemishes, cuts, or any imperfections before use.
Food Safety & Hygiene:
- Follow all food safety guidelines, including maintaining proper hygiene and cleanliness in the work area.
- Regularly sanitize cutting tools, countertops, and work surfaces to prevent contamination.
- Store cut fruit in appropriate containers and at correct temperatures to ensure freshness.
Equipment Handling:
- Operate kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, peelers, and other fruit-cutting tools safely.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on cutting equipment.
Quality Control:
- Inspect the quality of fruit to ensure it meets company standards before cutting or packaging.
- Report any issues with the quality or supply of fruit to the supervisor.
Packaging & Presentation:
- Package cut fruit into containers, ensuring it is visually appealing and securely packed for delivery or sale.
- Label products with the appropriate information (e.g., date, product type) as required.
Teamwork & Communication:
- Work closely with other kitchen staff, including fruit preparers, packers, and supervisors.
- Communicate any supply shortages, safety concerns, or product issues promptly.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in food preparation, especially cutting or handling fruits, is preferred but not required.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices.
- Ability to operate cutting equipment safely.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and carrying.
- Personal Attributes:

- Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- The work environment is typically a kitchen or food production area, where employees may be exposed to temperature-controlled environments (cold storage areas) or heat from cooking equipment.
