Foreman
Job Description:
Supervise, coordinate, and control a team, or several teams, of workers at assigned worksites to achieve planned production rates in a safe, cost effective, and quality-focused manner. This is a working supervisor position, and thus requires the incumbent employee to have equivalent knowledge and to perform the same activities as those being supervised.
The General Foreman must have the ability to understand how the job goes together and envision the work to be performed including a perception of difficulties that may be encountered.
Ensure sufficient labor, materials, and equipment is available to complete the planned work on schedule. Direct the activities of all employees assigned to his responsibility.
RESPONSIBILITY and DUTIES
Apply leadership skills to plan, encourage, and direct the assigned employees to achieve the planned production each day.
Setup, complete, work, and manage to a specific job schedule that maximizes team members work hours for work that is value-added. Minimize Indirect hours, or nonvalue-added hours, and seek approval from the Project Manager.
Assure that all material either delivered or purchased for the job matches the material as specified on the original estimate and Procurement’s PO (scope of work). Report any discrepancies immediately to the Project Manager. Submit all receipts/paperwork to Project Manager (for Administration) at the end of the day. Write the job on each receipt.
Complete work according to the Scope of Work outlined in the original estimate. Report any “add-onsâ€, site problems creating additional work, or client changes immediately to the Project Manager. Do not begin the additional work until approved by the Project Manager.
Provide and maintain personal tools and equipment to properly
perform job duties.
Direct and/or assist in the timely and proper set-up of on-site equipment.
Ensure all assigned field employees and jobsites comply with federal, state, OSHA, locale, and company safety standards.
Safeguard and protect company assets and employees.
As needed, provide on-site training and guidance to lesser skilled employees.
Follow and encourage others to follow company safety practices and policies.
Immediately advise team members of work site conditions that could prevent the scheduled work from being completed in a safe and efficient manner.
Perform the essential functions of the team members assigned.
Receive and sign off on all job site deliveries. Send the signed paperwork to the office. Assure that the deliveries match the original Purchase Order.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is normally preferred, additional OTJ experience can be substituted for education.
Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
Licensing/Registration/Certification: A valid current driver’s license
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of direct field experience, with a minimum 2 years specific experience in work being supervised.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Familiar with construction materials, practices and procedures.
Environmental: This position works outdoors, at a job site and typically includes physical labor and environmental distractions such as changes in climate and temperature. Physical hazards may be present, as typical on construction sites.
Travel: This position requires travel to different worksites and as such normal auto hazards will apply.
Mathematical: Basic mathematics (add, subtract, multiply, divide), basic ratios.
Able to use basic tools, accurately read tape measure, apply basic principals to solve problems.
