Floor Technician-Housekeeping-Night Shift

Bay Springs, Mississippi Full-time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The purpose of this position is to maintain Jasper Health Systems  in a clean, sanitary and infection-free condition through cleaning of building, fixtures, and furnishings.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows cleaning schedule (daily, weekly and monthly) as outlined by the Housekeeping Director and Assistant Director.
  • Maintain facility in a sanitary and infection-free condition through washing, cleaning and replacement of equipment and furnishings.
  • The general cleaning and appearance of floors and entrances except for the occupied patient rooms and kitchen.
  • Dust mops and/or sweeps and run floor scrubber with a disinfecting solution on a daily basis.
  • Vacuums interior and exterior entrance rugs, and carpet. Also shampoo and disinfect rugs and carpet on an as needed basis.
  • Remove and discard waste /trash the housekeeper has removed from areas throughout facility and put into proper containers outside the facility.
  • Strip and seal floors as directed by Director and/or Assistant Director.
  • Move furniture in resident rooms on an as needed basis for the housekeeper.
  • Remove for cleaning divider curtains in patient / resident rooms.
  • Clean any chairs that have been soiled by a resident or guest.
  • Steam wheel chairs and other chairs as needed.
  • Work areas clean and that tools and supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas at the end of the day.
  • Maintains and cleans equipment used in performing duties.
  • Other duties as assigned or miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
  • Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor (either nursing and/or housekeeping) or directly report to the Maintenance Department.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  •  Ability to work independently, and to follow directions and carry out assignments to completion working independently
  •  Good verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with residents, their families, and coworkers. 
  • Must display patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents gently
  • High school diploma or GED required
