Job Summary:

The Floor Care Technician is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and appearance of all floor surfaces within a facility. This includes the use of specialized equipment to clean, buff, strip, wax, and refinish floors, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for staff, customers, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, and polish hard surface floors using appropriate floor care equipment (e.g., auto scrubbers, buffers, burnishers).

  • Vacuum and extract carpets using professional carpet care machines.

  • Monitor floor conditions and report any safety or maintenance issues.

  • Follow all safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain equipment by cleaning and performing routine maintenance checks.

  • Maintain inventory of floor care supplies and notify supervisor of shortages.

  • Adhere to facility policies and infection control standards.

  • Assist with general cleaning tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • 1+ year of experience in janitorial or floor care preferred.

  • Knowledge of floor care techniques and equipment.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

  • Physical ability to perform tasks that require lifting, walking, bending, and standing for long periods.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed indoors in a commercial, industrial, healthcare, or educational facility.

  • May involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and frequent use of floor care machinery.

  • Evening or weekend shifts may be required depending on the facility’s needs.
