St. Francis de Sales Cathedral School is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and student-centered First Grade Teacher to join our exceptional faculty for the 2026-2027 school year.

Located in the heart of Houma, Louisiana, St. Francis de Sales Cathedral School has served families for over 150 years through a tradition of academic excellence, character development, and community engagement. Our school serves students in PreK through 7th grade and is known for its strong family atmosphere, dedicated faculty, and commitment to helping every child reach their full potential.

We are looking for an educator who loves working with young learners, creates engaging classroom experiences, and fosters a positive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Position Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction for first-grade students.

• Create a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment.

• Foster a love of learning through creative and hands-on instructional practices.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

• Assess student progress and communicate effectively with families regarding growth and achievement.

• Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into daily instruction.

• Collaborate with fellow teachers, administration, and support staff to promote student success.

• Support the school's mission of developing students of strong character, leadership, and service.

• Participate in school events, professional development opportunities, and faculty activities.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or related field.

• Eligibility for Louisiana teacher certification or willingness to pursue certification.

• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.

• Passion for working with young children and fostering their growth.

Preferred

• Louisiana teaching certification.

• Previous elementary classroom experience.

• Experience utilizing technology in instruction.

• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students and families.
