POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Under the guidance and supervision of the Facilities Director, the Facility & Grounds Technician is responsible for ensuring that the Y is clean, safe, tidy, functional and attractive by completing all assigned duties during their work shift.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 21 years of age.

Minimum 1 year of facilities, maintenance, construction, landscaping, or related experience preferred.

Working knowledge of minor plumbing and basic electrical repair and custodial tasks.

Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required.

Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Strong time management skills and ability to work independently across multiple locations.

Alarm/Emergency Procedures training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.

CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.

Ability to perform essential maintenance duties and responsibilities as described below.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

All Facilities & Grounds Technicians are expected to fulfill the following functions:

Perform routine maintenance and light repairs across multiple YMCA facilities and program sites.

Maintain grounds at assigned locations, including mowing, trimming, irrigation checks, snow removal, and general exterior upkeep.

Complete minor plumbing repairs (e.g., faucets, toilets, drains, etc…) and basic electrical work (e.g., light fixtures, bulbs, switches, outlets, etc…) within scope of training and safety guidelines.

Perform interior and exterior painting as needed.

Operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, snow removal equipment, and other maintenance machinery safely and effectively.

Conduct daily facility walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and repair priorities.

Checking chemical levels in pools and spa.

Respond promptly to maintenance work order requests and facility issues and complete in a timely manner.

Assist with room setups, equipment moves, and event support as needed.

Maintain clean and organized maintenance workspaces and properly care for tools and equipment.

Document completed work and communicate updates to the Facilities Director or designated supervisor.

Follow all YMCA safety policies and procedures.

Assist in planning, organizing and implementing duties for the annual maintenance closure each August.

Support custodial and general facility needs during high-demand periods.

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, Facilities & Grounds Technician will:

Pursue /participate in ongoing skills training

Participate in the annual campaign by assisting, giving, and/or campaigning

Attend required staff meetings

Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.

Attend required abuse risk management training.

Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.

Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

Ability to safely and effectively perform necessary tasks

Ability to work a swing or split shift
