Expressive Music Coordinator

Position Objectives:

The primary function of the Expressive Music Coordinator is to be responsible for planning, implementing, and leading an expansive, successful, and enriching music program for all residents at Larksfield Place.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

Plan and direct music programs/classes for the residents to attend, across the campus (Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Support, Health Care Center). Assist and collaborate with other Life Enrichment programs as directed.

Lead, encourage and engage residents in music programs/classes, such as a sing along, choral, hand chimes, music appreciation programs, sensory stimulation, rhythm drums, instructional classes, music lessons and conducting. Leading classes with a variety of different instruments such as the guitar, flute, piano, hand chimes, drums, Ukulele, autoharp, and dulcimer.

Learn specific needs of residents from resident assessments, personal interviews, and engagement.  Maintain current and acute documentation for residents in the Health Care Center when providing one on one programing.

Facilitate and create connections to arrange and oversee musical performances for Larksfield Place from professionals in the Community of Wichita, in addition to educational presentations, speakers, guests to lead classes and intergenerational programs.

Arrange and escort the residents on outings that specialize in the arts for residents’ music enrichment. 

Keep instruments and pianos tuned. Maintain and organize supplies and equipment necessary for the implementation of engaging music programs.

Attend orientation, training, in-services, meetings, and educational programs as request to maintain current knowledge of therapeutic and enriching practices applicable to compliance with state and federal laws and regulations of the industry.
