Job Summary

Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Family/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. This position is exempt and the schedule is at least M-F 10am-7pm, after hours, weekends, and on call as needed. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner participates in day-to-day activities as a direct care provider. This position works in collaboration with physicians to manage patient care for medically supported detoxification and psychiatric care. The Family Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. This position will prescribe medication and make recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. This position will manage Quality Assurance/Improvement reports, as part of Best Practices that reflect participation in coordinating and providing patient care.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

It is the duty and responsibility of the Family/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to:

·        provide direct care to patients within the Scope of Practice for which the provider is licensed;

·        provide direct care to clients/patients to support the agency’s continuum of care programs including but not limited to Detox, and  Residential programs.

·        complete initial evaluations/assessments, medication reconciliation and short-term MAT prescriptions;

·        review patients’ medical history and initiate treatment plans;

·        communicate and coordinate patient care within the agency’s departments;

·        conduct thorough documentation of visits and medical orders;

·        advise patients on how to cope with mental health and substance use disorders and emotional breakdowns;

·        participate in webinars and conference calls;

·        report on patient and program progress to the Inpatient Services leadership team

·        identify and provide training to nursing staff in order to improve direct care and patient outcomes;

·        implement and manage Best Practices initiated by Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance staff;

·        coordinate the implementation of Quality Assurance measures with Compliance and Quality Assurance Director to ensure data integrity and outcomes are met;

·        observe Occupational Safety and Health Administration during all elements of daily operations, including but not limited to phlebotomy, in-house testing, medical interventions, medical waste and managing infection control;

·        observe Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance; and

·        perform other duties as assigned.

Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:

It is the duty and responsibility of the Family Nurse Practitioner /Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to:

·        meet regularly with the Inpatient Services Program Manager

·        participate in regularly scheduled meetings at Inpatient Services;

·        timely respond to the Chief Medical Officer as needed;

·        ensure timely completion of all assigned administrative reports;

·        train and orient new staff, providers, and contractors to the practice as needed;

·        keep licensure current and meet credential requirements;

·        attend continuing education programs that provide updated information on health topics pertinent to caring for patients and effective practice;

·        participate in design, implementation, and support of Quality Assurance/Improvement initiatives within the setting; and

·        perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Required:

Minimum qualifications include the following:

·        Master’s Degree in Nursing Science

·        Active, unencumbered NP license (Psychiatry and Family medicine concentration) in the state of LA with prescriptive authority

·        Current good standing with regulating National Certifying Board

·        At least 1 year clinical experience

·        Electronic Medical Records experience

·        Current CPR certification

·        Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite

·        Excellent communication skills

·        Ability to exercise patience, approachability and consistency in a high stress environment

Preferred:

Preferred qualifications include the following:

·        Substance Use Disorder Treatment experience

·        Psychiatric Treatment experience

·        DATA 2000 Waiver
