About the Role
The Dockhand supports Marine Operations by maintaining the docks, rental fleet, and marina facilities while delivering excellent guest service. The role ensures clean, safe, and well-organized marina operations and assists guests arriving by water, using rentals, or accessing dock services.
Key Responsibilities
· Clean and maintain rental boats, docks, fish stations, bathrooms, and marina facilities.
· Operate rental boats, VHF radio, fuel pumps, and blackwater pump systems.
· Prepare and maintain fishing gear, kayaks, and SUP equipment; ensure all rentals are safe and ready.
· Stock ice, retail items, merchandise, and manage Dock Shack transactions and cash-outs.
· Provide guest assistance by welcoming boat arrivals, catching lines, answering questions, resolving or escalating issues.
· Conduct rental orientations for boats, kayaks, and SUPs with proper safety communication.
· Support waste management: garbage, recycling, and towel collection/laundering.
· Coordinate slip assignments with front desk and communicate guest needs across departments.
· Ensure proper food handling, temperature checks, and Food Safe compliance in Dock Shack.
· Maintain safety readiness, including spill materials and equipment checks.
Qualifications
Required
· Legally entitled to work in Canada
· PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card)
· Ability to work independently
· Excellent guest service skills
· WHMIS certification
Preferred
· Valid driver’s license
· ROC (Restricted Operator Certificate)
· OFA1 (Occupational First Aid Level 1)
· Serving it Right certification
· Familiarity with west coast saltwater fishing & marine operations
