Corporate Controller
LightForm is a team of design-driven sales, marketing and support staff who help Canada's interior design and architecture professionals light their residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. We are the Canadian partner for more than 70 top modern lighting manufacturers from Europe and North America, and our clients include some of the country’s most innovative design and architecture firms. Our showrooms in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary showcase unique, exclusive, and iconic collections of modern architectural and decorative lighting from around the world and serve as an exciting event space for designer visits, parties, and educational sessions.
As we transition from a small to a medium sized company, we are looking for a Corporate Controller to guide our accounting processes to budget, forecast and provide structure to our rapidly growing company.
Key Qualifications
Professional accounting designation
3+ years’ experience in a professional accounting role
Advanced level financial acumen, including full understanding of common accounting software
Thorough understanding of Canadian financial accounting best practices
Advanced understanding of management accounting best practices
Able to analyze and explain detailed financial information
Ability to coach and mentor direct reports
Proficient in financial process design
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee all sides of accounting operations, including payables, receivables, payroll, tax preparation, and cash flow
Prepare the preparation of financial statements, summaries, cost-benefit analyses and financial management reports
Develop, lead and manage a budgeting process across all company locations
Responsible for gathering financial data for analysis and forecasting with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance
Coordinate the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly reports
Manage and oversee company payroll including commissions, benefits and paid time off
Oversee all spending, approve all payments, purchase all foreign currency
Evaluate and extend credit terms to customers
Manage insurance coverage for the organization, including compliance
Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of financial information to appropriate groups, including internal parties, government regulators, and outside agencies
Supervise the development and implementation of financial simulation models (new AP solution)
Recruit, organize, train and manage accounting staff at head office and other LightForm locations
Develop and maintain an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures
Develop and coordinate all relationships with financial institutions
Develop and maintain all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting
Ensure that records are maintained following generally accepted accounting principles
