GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Handling and preparation of foods in accordance with sanitary regulations and facility policies; preparation of foods that are palatable and appetizing in appearance; meet meal schedules; avoid food waste; proper care of equipment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Estimates production requirements according to resident census, menu and prior history.
2. Utilizes leftovers as possible, presenting food in attractive and palatable manner.
3. Follows standardized recipes but makes frequent independent decisions relative to type of meal to be served and method of preparation.
4. Prepares food stuffs for cooking to include peeling, washing, trimming and cutting vegetables and fruits, washing, trimming de-boning meat, fish and poultry and cutting into uniform portions as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
· Education: Completed formal training program in food preparation, sanitation and personal hygiene
· Work Experience: 2 years of experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant or other institution
