As a Control Systems Lead you will join a team of highly skilled software developers, engineers, dispatch operators and IT professionals in designing, implementing and integrating DER control systems, such as BESS and SCADA software. Your expertise will contribute to a more sustainable and resilient energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross-functional team of engineers, analysts and software developers to conceptualize, architect and implement DER solutions to meet customer business and technical objectives.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of DER control system projects and solutions.
  • Provide support to the Sales team including the translation of business requirements into technical specifications, solution components and cost estimates for DER opportunities and RFPs.
  • Provide technical leadership and coordination with Business Developers, Vendors and Customers.
  • Create architecture and design documentation for data acquisition and control solutions based on Customer or ISO/RTO market entry requirements.
  • Employ appropriate industry standard communications methods and cyber standards such as DNP3 / Modbus / ICCP.
  • Support installation of solutions including site acceptance testing and commissioning at industrial or electrical utility customer facilities.
  • Manage and provide technical support and troubleshoot issues related to BESS, SCADA and communication systems and other solution components.
  • Develop internal processes and documentation to ensure smooth, efficient and repeatable DER site control system design, implementations and support operations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in project management and architecture development of DER Control Systems such as SCADA software, such as Ignition and SEL RTACs.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing control systems.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, grid integration, and energy storage solutions.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems (EMS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, such as Ignition and Tesla controllers.
  • Knowledge of software architecture, programming, and integration technologies.
  • Knowledge of ISO/RTO programs such as Demand Response, Frequency Regulation and Operating Reserve.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Certifications such as PMP or PEng are advantageous.

This is a flexible hybrid role where you are required to work both remotely and in person depending on business needs. You will be required to work at our Corporate HQ office in Mississauga a minimum of 2 days per week in addition to attending and participating in workshops, projects, or team meetings.
