Fibre Federal Credit Union is seeking a Consumer Loan Underwriter for our
Longview, WA location.
Wage Range: $28.81 - $45.01
* The range above allows our employees room
for growth through annual merit and other pay increases based on performance.
The target pay range for this position is typically within the first half
of the range. Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as
relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training.
Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual
qualifications.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for reviewing and processing loan applications received primarily through our direct and indirect lending channels in accordance with established retail lending guidelines. Must have the ability to determine credit worthiness of loan requests based on objective criteria and loan policy. Approves or denies loan applications based on analysis. Performs all reasonable tasks to protect the Credit Union from undue financial loss. Performs a variety of support duties related to the lending function within the Credit Union.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
· Must evaluate credit applicants for future loan approval.
· Approves or denies loans and terms within the loan underwriter's own limits and established policies of the Credit Union. Makes recommendations on consumer loans outside of authority level.
· Must accept loan applications and obtain credit and any other information pertinent to the loan decision and closing of the loan. Must be able to effectively communicate with dealers concerning loan approvals or denials.
· Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities, including assisting underwriters who have lesser signing authority in making credit decisions.
· Processes direct and indirect lending credit applications, but with the ability to also process other types as well, and obtains any documentation necessary to make sound credit decisions in a timely manner.
· Maintains delinquency and charge-off ratios within the established policies of the Credit Union.
· Communicates the status of member applications with loan originators and loan processors.
· Trains new loan underwriters.
· Attends underwriting training as necessary.
· Looks for recapture of approved but withdrawn applications and cross-sell opportunities on all Credit Union products and services when appropriate.
· Power books (audits) vehicles to verify that we have accurate vehicle information and document the findings.
· Reviews and analyzes indirect dealer applications and funding packets.
· Reviews loan and member files to develop additional sources of loan production.
· Assists in building and maintaining dealer relationships, which includes but not limited to dealer visits.
· Follows Credit Union procedures as outlined in the Loan Department procedures and Policy Manuals, ensuring all dual control and internal controls are followed within their area of responsibility.
· Reviews and analyzes tax returns to verify income.
· Provides assistance where needed in the Loan department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
· Thorough knowledge of consumer loan policy, credit granting criteria, and current interest rates.

The individual maintains ongoing communication with Department Manager concerning activities of the department as well as needs or problems and keeps them informed of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information.
· Written Communication - The individual edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively, and is able to read and interpret written information.
· Planning/Organizing - The individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, and develops realistic action plans.
· Quality Control - The individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
· Dependability - The individual is consistently at work and on time (except for those cases protected by law which are outlined in the Employee Guide), follows instructions, responds to Management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance
· Observes Policies/Procedures - The individual sets an example in observing (following) Credit Union policy and applicable Standard Operating Procedures, as well as those in the Employee Guide.
· Position Knowledge - Position requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of two years of college, associate degree in business areas, or equivalent work experience.
· Experience - Applicants with a minimum one year of loan underwriting experience preferred; however, would consider other applicants who have a minimum of two years lending experience. Must have typing, adding machine, or calculator proficiency, familiarity of data processing systems helpful, and excellent office work skills.
· Must be bondable.
