Matix Lumber Inc. is looking for a full-time Project Coordinator to join our growing team. We are looking for a motivated professional with on-site construction experience and strong knowledge of building materials, who can provide high-level customer service to our clients.
The Junior Estimator provides administrative, technical, and organizational support to the Estimating Department. This role is responsible for assisting with quantity takeoffs, estimate documentation, data entry, and coordination activities to support the preparation of accurate and complete project estimates. The Junior Estimator ensures estimating information is well organized, traceable, and prepared for review by Senior Estimators.

Junior Estimator will be responsible for:
- Reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to support the development of accurate and complete project estimates.
- Performing detailed quantity takeoffs for materials such as concrete, framing, finishes, and other trade scopes.
- Breaking down scopes of work into clear, logical, and trade‑aligned components to support estimating and procurement activities.
- Ensuring all quantities are complete, accurate, and clearly traceable to drawings and specifications.
- Applying labour, material, and equipment unit costs as directed by Senior Estimators.
- Accurately and consistently populating estimating templates and internal databases.
- Assisting in the preparation of draft estimates and supporting documentation for internal review and final pricing.
- Issuing pricing requests to subcontractors and suppliers using clearly defined scopes of work.
- Tracking subcontractor and supplier responses and organizing received pricing for easy review.
- Supporting the preparation of material quotes, bid packages, and purchase orders.
- Maintaining well‑organized estimating files, including quantity takeoffs, quotes, pricing matrices, and shop drawings.
- Inputting and maintaining estimate data, pricing, and material lists in BisTrack or other estimating software.
- Coordinating with Sales, Design, Purchasing, Operations, and Estimating teams to ensure timely and accurate information flow.
- Providing administrative support to the estimating department, including scheduling reviews, maintaining templates, and tracking project priorities.
Junior Estimator will have:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in construction, estimating, or administrative support is an asset.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with BisTrack or similar ERP/estimating software is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Residential construction experience is an asset, but not required.
