As we continue to expand, we are seeking a seasoned and motivated Project Estimator to join our team and play a pivotal role in our ongoing success.

Position Overview: As the Project Estimator, you will be responsible for overseeing the estimating process for a wide range of construction projects, ensuring accurate and competitive bids that align with our company's growth objectives. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to deliver comprehensive estimates that support successful project execution.

 Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Interaction

    1. Meet owners and design teams to discuss and explain our construction proposals.

  1. Handing over the project to the operations team

    1. Overseeing the gathering of financial information and prequalification forms of new subcontractors

    2. During handover meetings getting the operations team up to speed with the projects (i.e. costs, schedule, subcontractor recommendation).

    3. Answering questions from PMs during the buyout phase

  1. Building bid schedules

  2. Reviewing prime contracts

  3. Bid Preparation:

    1. Oversee the preparation of accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor bids, and other relevant factors.

    2. Conduct thorough analysis of project plans, specifications, and requirements to identify potential risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures.

    3. Coordinate with various departments to gather essential information for accurate estimates, including engineering, procurement, and subcontracting.

    4. Attend prebid meetings

  1. Cost Analysis and Value Engineering:

    1. Collaborate with project managers and engineers to perform cost analysis and value engineering exercises to identify potential cost efficiencies without compromising project quality.

    2. Provide recommendations for alternative materials, methods, and approaches to enhance project competitiveness.

  1. Vendor and Subcontractor Relations:

    1. Build and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and availability of resources.

    2. Evaluate subcontractor bids, negotiate terms, and make recommendations for selection to project teams.

  1. Estimate Review and Presentation:

    1. Review and validate estimates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.

    2. Present estimates to senior management and project stakeholders, explaining key assumptions, methodologies, and pricing strategies.

  1. Market Research and Benchmarking:

    1. Stay informed about industry trends, market fluctuations, and pricing changes that could impact project estimates.

    2. Conduct benchmarking against industry peers to ensure our bids remain competitive and aligned with market standards.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field.

  • Proven construction experience (4+ years) with an understanding of all construction CSI divisions.

  • Strong proficiency in estimating software and tools, along with excellent computer skills

  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

  • A drive to do what it takes to get the job done, including taking on different roles and responsibilities and adapting to changing environments.

  • Ability to resolve cost differences among bids on bid day by analyzing and collecting relevant scope/cost related information from subcontractors.

  • Ability to handle large data sets and scope of works on bid day.

  • Software Proficiency

    • Schedule (P6, Microsoft Project)

    • Excel

      • Highly proficient

    • Bluebeam for takeoffs or a similar program

  • Construction CSI Divisions

    • Has a better than working knowledge of all construction CSI divisions

  • Project Size

    • Has worked on projects ranging between 1MM-50MM+

  • Design-Build Experience

    • Has some experience with Design-Build type projects
