Console Operator

The New Orleans Museum of Art is currently accepting applications for the position of Security Console Operator. The Security Console Operator is a full-time position that works in receiving and dispatching of security operations within the museum and the sculpture garden. Dispatching in this position include, but is not limited to security, fire alarms, emergency preparedness and related security dispatching. This position requires being able to work rotating shifts over a 24-hour period.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Monitoring Security and Fire Alarm Computer Systems on assigned shift
• Documenting full investigation and report of any alarm or fault
• Checking, via computer and physically, all alarms at beginning and end of shift
• Maintenance of detailed security log to include any and all activities that relate to operation of museum and garden that affect security and safety of the collection, visitors and staff.
• Dispatching and control at employee entrance.
• Disseminating and logging   key access and NOMA vehicle access  
• Receiving packages and distributing package to proper recipients
• Monitoring entrance and exit of employees, visitors, etc.
• Ensuring proper opening and closing of loading dock.
• Answer telephone calls and route them to appropriate parties
• Ability to operate radio and/or telephone equipment to communicate critical information
• Monitor a large CCTV network and document any abnormalities
• Ability to work with internal staff and external visitors during special events

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:        

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Preferred- One year of dispatch and/or security experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Candidate must be proficient in the use of a computer and keyboard and must have the ability to write detailed reports.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a sedentary position that requires some activity. Please not activities listed below are not all inclusive.

• Sitting for extended periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, talking, hearing and visual activity

• Normal museum and office environment.
