Essential Job Duties:As a CNC Mill Machinist Team Lead, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring precision, efficiency, and quality on the shop floor. You’ll lead by example—supporting operators, solving challenges, and driving continuous improvement.
- Plan machining operations by reviewing work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Set up and operate CNC mills and horizontal machining centers by inputting precise instructions, tool offsets, and calculations involving basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Install and adjust fixtures, vise jaws, tools, and attachments, ensuring proper machine setup.
- Verify settings through first-run part measurements, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Maintain accuracy & efficiency by monitoring machining operations, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting, and making necessary adjustments.
- Ensure quality by inspecting finished parts and adhering to quality assurance procedures.
- Prioritize safety by following all regulations, participating in daily safety reviews, and contributing to a clean, organized work environment.
- Support and train team members, including apprentices and less-experienced machinists.
- Document production activity and communicate shift updates to ensure smooth workflow.
- 5+ years of experience programming, setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC mills in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, and technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, and machining sequences.
- Strong inspection and measurement skills using precision tools to verify part accuracy.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.
- Leadership skills – able to guide, mentor, and support team members to ensure success.
