Cemetery Landscaper/ Caretaker
The main purpose of this position is to maintain cemetery grounds via grass cutting, weed eating, edging, spraying round-up, and general landscaping. Assisting in burials may be asked from time to time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: (other duties may be assigned)
- Follows safety rules and regulations. Brings safety concerns to direct supervisor.
- Mow the grass within St. Joseph Cemetery and its surrounding properties.
- Spray Round Up quarterly to prevent overgrowth on tombs.
- Edge walkways.
- Remove and/or trim dead plants and bushes.
- Plant new bushes and flowers as directed.
- Spread ant poison when needed.
- Assist with burials when directed.
- Complete safety environment training.
- Additional tasks may be assigned during the winter months.
QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. General facilities maintenance knowledge.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Driver’s license with good driving record.
Language Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly to all by phone, written form including email and verbally.
Reasoning Ability: Must be able to multi-task and set priorities.
Technical Skills: Ability to operate lawn mower, weed eater, edger, and spray pump.
Physical Demands: Ability to regularly walk and stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on occasion.
Working Conditions: Working outdoors in extreme environments (hot, cold, wet).
Other Requirements: Knowledge of Catholic Church and its teachings. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Must be able to successfully complete all required Safe Environment training.
