Summary: 

The paraprofessional provides case management, job coaching, medical case management and other support and networking services to clients of MHRS, as may be clinically indicated and as fall within the scope of the paraprofessional’s expertise and training.  The paraprofessional shall work as part of a team, and his/her duties shall be in the service of the treatment goals established by the team under the guidance of a mental health professional.   All the paraprofessional’s activities as an employee of MHRS will be performed in an ethical, professional manner, in accord with the policies and procedures, and will be subject to supervision. 

 

Essential Job Functions: 

1.    Provide case management and other support and networking services to prospective and enrolled clients of MHRS. 

2.    Coordinate paraprofessional services to support the therapeutic goals established by the treatment team, under the guidance of a mental health professional. 

3.    Maintain and manage a client load at a number and scope to be determined by the Executive Director or his/her designee. 

4.    Establish and maintain positive relationships with other providers and organizations within the community. 

5.    Respond to case management emergencies as appropriate. 

6.    Complete and maintain all paperwork in a timely manner in accord with MHRS and third-party payer requirements. 

7.    Attend staff meetings, staffing, clinical meetings, supervision, and other meetings as required. 

8.    Fulfill other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director or his/her designee. 

9.    Participate in CARF accreditation activities including committees, trainings, and exercises 

 Minimum Qualifications: 

·         Bachelor’s degree in a social services discipline.

·         A solid grasp of, and commitment to, the ethical principles of mental health work, especially the principals of confidentiality and the avoidance of dual relationships.           

Work Environment: 

The paraprofessional will work primarily in the community, though he/she will be based in MHRS.  In any circumstances, the paraprofessional will ensure that the environment for service provision is as safe as possible.  In no case will he/she knowingly place himself/herself at clear risk of physical harm.
