GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position is either full time or part time, hourly.  This is a support role with its main functions to assist the Foster Care Department with observing parenting time visitations, providing transportation to clients and maintaining client records.  This position requires someone who is organized, dependable and flexible.  Someone who works well alone or as part of a team.  This person must be able to adjust to a fast-paced environment and be comfortable around children.  The Case Aide should be able to multi-task and maintain follow-through on all assigned duties. This position requires assignments to be performed in the office and community, including meeting with and transporting clients.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.      Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma.

2.      One year or more of experience in this role at a Child Placing Agency is preferred but not required.

3.      Possess a good driving record with reliable transportation that is registered and insured at all times.

4.      Be able to pass a criminal and Protective Services background check.

5.      Must be proficient in basic computer skills, typing, and using Microsoft applications.

6.      Be physically able to perform job duties including lifting up to 25 pounds.  If you have a disability that needs work related assistance you will need to provide that information so that the agency can make accommodations according to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

7.      Able to work evening hours’ multiple days per week, as most visitations with families occur between 3-7pm.

 

CASE AIDE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Must clock in and out daily, hours recorded are hours paid.  If there is an issue with the time clock, immediately report to your supervisor to report your attendance at work.  They will record the time you reported to them.  If your immediate supervisor is not available, report to the backup supervisor.

2.      Review Case Aide Request Forms and take appropriate action to approve, modify or deny requests.

3.      Create and amend the parenting time schedule to accommodate visitation between parents and children.

4.      Create and amend the late night schedule for Foster Care Specialists on a monthly basis.

5.      Supervise all pre-approved parenting time visits. This can include visits at the office and in the community.

6.      Enter parenting time contacts into MiSACWIS within two business days.

7.      Enter data and upload documents into MiSACWIS as assigned for the compliance of client records.

8.      File client documents in the paper files once per week, or more frequently if needed.

9.      Complete Foster Care file openings and closures.

10.   Maintain foster care department spreadsheets for tracking as assigned by the program manager.

11.   Administer oral client drug screens as needed.

12.   Distribute and maintain a supply of bus passes and gas cards. Track and record the distribution of bus passes and gas cards provided to clients.

13.   Provide pre-approved transportation for clients.

14.   Follow procedures for Medicals and Dentals for children.

a.      Maintain a spreadsheet to track medical and dental due dates of children.

b.      Sending forms to caregivers of children according to procedure and schedule.

c.      Complete follow up to ensure appointments have been made for children.

d.      Get forms from caregivers of children and enter appointments then upload forms into MiSACWIS

e.      Ensure that all contacts with families regarding these forms are put into a Social Work Contacts on MiSACWIS within two business days of making the contact.

15.   Provide coverage as needed for answering phones and doors, sending/receiving mail, and greeting clients.

16.   Upkeep the visitation suite including daily tidying and once weekly organizing, cleaning and disinfecting of the visitation rooms and toys.

17.   Collaborate with other departments for task assignments if additional tasks are needed during assigned shift.

18.   Meet with assigned supervisor for monthly supervision and consultation.

19.   Actively attends and participates in agency meetings, trainings and activities as required.

20.   Complies with the agency handbook, policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
