Camp Junior Counselor

GENERAL DESCRIPTION 

 

Each Junior Counselor is responsible for assisting a counselor, caring for a group of children, and assisting in all aspects of the camp's program's operation. * This is a seasonal program. The program operates from July 202026, to August 21, 2026. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Develop strong positive relationships with each child. 

  • Help counselors supervise children throughout the day, ensuring their safety and enjoyment of camp. 

  • Help counselors maintain behavioral limits and group order. 

  • Participate in specialist activities, responding to the specialists' directions and requests. 

  • Help counselors plan and carry out activities with their group. 

  • Work with other staff to prepare and participate in special events. 

  • Help keep the site organized and clean. 

  • All other assigned duties. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • At least 15 years old. 

  • Experience working with children in a formal or informal setting. 

  • High energy, warm and nurturing personality. 

 

Reports to: Unit Head 

   

 

* All South Shore Stars employees should be able to lift at least 40 lbs. and work in a non-sedentary environment.
