Bar Supervisor Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION
To maintain alcohol control and provide high standards of service to customers by the supervision of staff members.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
a) Reports to: Beverage Manager
b) Supervises: Bartenders
Wait staff
Barbacks
Food Runners
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Supervises staff members.
· Assigns work to staff members.
· Assists employees and customers with problems or complaints.
· Ensures Beverage department is locked and secure at the end of the shift.
· Determines intoxication of patrons and “cut-off” when necessary.
· Informs security, employees and managers when a patron has been “cut-off” from alcohol.
· Monitors procedures and inform staff members of changes.
· Corrects errors made on cash register.
· Assists with special events or booked parties.
· Trains new employees.
· Tracks inventory.
· Occasionally serves as back up for staff members.
· Occasionally helps in restaurant or kitchen.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
· High School education.
· 1-year prior management experience.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
· Must have bartending skills.
· Must have good customer service skills.
· Good oral communication skills.
· Good written communication skills.
· Good decision making skills.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Medium work, ability to move up to 50 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
· Activities occur inside and occasionally outside, subject to weather conditions..
· Subject to loud noise levels.
· Working environment is subject to cigarette smoke.
