Area Sales Manager for Indiana
The George E. Booth Co., a family-owned and operated industrial automation sales company, is seeking a full-time Area Sales Manager to lead sales efforts throughout Indiana.

Position Summary
The Area Sales Manager will oversee sales activities within the assigned Indiana territory, build and maintain strong customer relationships, guide and develop sales team members, and support strategic business growth. This individual will work closely with customers, principals, internal teams, and cross-functional partners to identify needs, deliver effective solutions, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated sales leader with strong technical aptitude, business acumen, coaching ability, and a customer-focused mindset.
Essential Responsibilities
Direct and coordinate sales activities involving company products and services throughout the assigned territory.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, principals, internal teams, and cross-functional partners.
Identify customer needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and maintain open communication to ensure customer expectations are met.
Resolve customer concerns and complaints related to products, services, and sales support in a timely and professional manner.
Review operational records, sales reports, and account information to forecast sales activity, evaluate performance, and determine profitability.
Maintain current knowledge of company principals, products, services, sales methods, and industry developments.
Promote and uphold quality customer-service standards while coaching team members to meet those same expectations.
Mentor, guide, and support sales team members in making informed, ethical, and effective business decisions.
Use empathy, active listening, and professional communication when interacting with customers, peers, direct reports, and internal partners.
Motivate team members, encourage healthy competition, and use analytical and data-driven coaching techniques to support individual and team success.
Foster customer engagement and strategically guide business decisions in the best interest of the company.
Travel regularly throughout the assigned Indiana territory during normal business hours.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another related technical field is highly preferred.
Three to five years of relevant sales experience within the process-control, industrial automation, instrumentation, or related industry is preferred.
Three to five years of experience leading, mentoring, guiding, or supporting a professional sales team is preferred.
Strong ability to build customer relationships and develop a thorough understanding of customer needs.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate, including basic contract-negotiation skills.
Strong business acumen, professional presentation, and customer-service orientation.
Excellent verbal communication, active-listening, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to self-initiate work, establish goals, manage priorities, and work independently.
Proficiency with basic computer applications and business systems.
Clean driving record required.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Schedule, Travel, and Work Environment
This is a full-time, salaried-exempt position working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on business needs.
Daily travel throughout Indiana is required, including regular in-person access to customers and direct reports. Overnight travel is rarely expected; however, occasional travel throughout the United States may be required.
The role may involve exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, loud noise, vibration, and occasional extreme conditions at customer job sites.
