Qualifications

A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors 

A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate within a multidisciplinary team

Ability to work year-round performing manual labor in all weather conditions

Required: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Required: Reliable transportation to the job site. Many of our job sites cannot be reached by public transportation, Uber, scooter, or bike. We serve the San Francisco Bay Area and greater Northern California Counties. This position is based out of La Honda, CA

Required: You must live within a 45 minute commute of La Honda, CA. Please calculate your morning commute using Google maps with an arrival time of 7:30AM. Map your home address to this work address: 8181 La Honda Rd La Honda CA. If you live outside of this area and do not plan to relocate, please do not apply.

Preferred: Prior tree care, landscaping, forestry, or horticulture experience

Preferred: Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field

Speaks/Reads English. Being bilingual is a plus. 

Job Summary

As an Arborist Ground Operations Specialist, you'll join Brush Hog's tree care crew. This mid-level role offers hands-on work in tree and shrub care for commercial and residential properties. You'll assist foremen, climbers, and fellers to manage the work site and interact with the public, all while reporting to the Crew Leaders, Supervisors and General Foreman and playing a vital role in the team.

Gaining on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of arboriculture, including:

Pruning trees

Rigging

Cabling and bracing

Removal of hazardous trees

Properly maintaining and operating equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, leaf blowers, chippers, tractor, aerial lifts, etc.)

Implementing work zone safety procedures

Assisting Arborist Climbers and Arborist Crew Leaders working on the ground and aloft

Assisting with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties

Traffic and pedestrian control, and other relevant duties as operationally necessary

Drive trucks with trailers; including daily safety inspection before operating

Assist aerial workers and other around crew members 

in all aspects of tree care and removal

Keep the job site safe & organized, drag & chip brush, rake & clean up the job site Able to work with and without direct supervision
