Reporting to the Supply Chain Superintendent, the Strategic Buyer will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the activities of the complete tendering process and the identification of existing contractual commitments. He/she will work from home, with occasional visits to the Windfall site and/or the Montreal office, on a 5-2 work schedule. Transportation, lodging and meals provided on site.


Duties and responsibilities                

Plan strategic sourcing requirements with requisitioners and line manager;

Define and implement strategies to achieve cost reduction objectives;

Produce the documentation required for calls for tender with the departments ;

Assume responsibility for tenders assigned by superior ;

Identify new sources of supply to reduce risks; 

Prequalification of bidders ;

Organize and participate in meetings with departments and suppliers;

Negotiating with bidders ;

Create various analyses in close collaboration with the departments;

Create different Powerpoint presentations ;

Create award recommendation ;

Lead the contract signing process;

Keep an up-to-date register of current contractual obligations;

Ensure compliance with company policies;

Apply and respect all norms, regulations, standards, codes and laws in force within the Windfall Mining Group;

Keep the work area clean, hygienic and safe;

Treat stakeholders with respect;

Issue purchase orders at the request of the supervisor;

Perform any other tasks related to the strategic buyer position that are relevant to the success of the project.

Good organizational, planning and priority management skills;

Good written and oral communication skills;

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills ;

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;

Good stress management and self-control.


Technical skills

Easy to upgrade with IT systems;

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access) ;

Adobe Acrobat Pro skills.


Qualifications required

(DEC) in administration or combination of experience and education could be considered ; 

(5) years experience in a similar position;

Knowledge of SAP software (mandatory) ;

Knowledge of the mining industry; essential

Valid class 5 driver's license;

Bilingual (French and English). (Will be required to contact English-speaking suppliers and draw up contracts in English).
