Reporting to the supply chain superintendent, the strategic buyer will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the activities of the entire calls of tender process and identifying existing contractual commitments. He/she will work remotely with occasional visits to the Windfall site and/or the Montreal office, on a schedule of 5 days of work followed by 2 days off. Transportation, accommodation and meals provided when traveling to the site.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES 

Ensure the knowledge and respect the standards relating to health and safety at work and implement corrective measures;

Know and respect environmental laws and regulations relating to the workplace;

Plan strategic procurement needs with requesters and line managers;

Define and implement strategies to achieve cost reduction objectives;

Produce the documentation required for calls of tenders with the departments;

Assume responsibility for calls of tenders assigned by the superior;

Identify new sources of supply to reduce risks;

Take care of prequalifications and negotiations with bidders;

Organize and participate in various meetings with services and suppliers;

Create analyzes and Powerpoint presentations;

Create the recommendations for awarding a prize;

Lead the contract signing process;

Maintain a register of current contractual obligations;

Apply and comply with all norms, policies, regulations, standards, codes and laws in force within the company;

Carry out any other task related to the position of strategic buyer that is relevant to the success of the project. 


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

DEC in administration or combination of education and relevant experience;

Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar position in the mining industry;

Have experience working with SAP software;

Hold a valid class 5 driving license.


TECHNICAL SKILLS 

Bilingualism in French and English (will be required to contact English-speaking suppliers and draft contracts in English);

Very good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, mainly Word, Excel and Access software;

Skills in Adobe Acrobat Pro;

Ease of evolving with different IT systems.


BASIC SKILLS

Teamwork skills and ability to develop harmonious relationships with colleagues and suppliers;

Ability to organize, plan and manage priorities;

Good written and oral communication skills;

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;

Stress management and self-control.
