Job Summary
As a Bookkeeping Specialist at Emerson & Company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of our clients’ businesses. Reporting to and collaborating closely with the Bookkeeping Team Lead, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of critical accounting services to our small to medium business clients to free up their valuable time. From data entry to complex tax returns, we provide the solution that fits our clients’ specific needs. General Accountabilities
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Record financial transactions in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online or other accounting software
• Checks figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes
• Classifies, records, and summarizes numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records
• Compiles statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables of cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses
• Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable (based on client’s needs)
• Reconciles or notes and reports discrepancies found in records
• Create journal entries as needed
• Completes Sales Tax analysis and filings
• Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
• Complies with federal, state and company policies, procedures, and regulations

Job Qualifications
• Education: Minimum of High School Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Experience: 2+ years of related bookkeeping/accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
• Knowledge of technical accounting standards is a plus
• Excellent computer skills, with the ability to navigate multiple software platforms efficiently
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational skills and self-motivation with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work independently or as a part of a team
• Strong analytical skills for account analysis and problem-solving
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion

Schedule
• In-office position
• 40 hours per week
• Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8am – 5 pm, but we are flexible on a schedule that fits for you
