Shipper/Receiver
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible to prepare, arrange, ship and receive inventory materials on a timely and efficient manner and ensure they meet company quality, accuracy, productivity and customer service objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares and arranges for the shipping of materials with various carriers
- Rates carriers to find the most economical and efficient shipping delivery methods (such as Purolator, FedEx, ICS, UPS, other cartage companies, etc)
- Inspects quality and verifies counts for incoming products and materials prior to signing off; rejects and reports damaged goods and report any discrepancies in inventory to management
- Prepares products, confirms quantity and quality of packages ready for shipment
- Tracks shipments and verify receipt of shipments as required
- Prepares appropriate paperwork for shipping, including packing slips, bills of lading or customs forms for cross-the-border shipments
- Prepares mail to be delivered to Canada Post for induction by shrink-wrapping mail skids and ensures that all mail is accompanied by corresponding Statement of Mailing (SOM)
- Operates and maintains lifting devices such as forklifts, clamps, reach, walkies, pallet jacks and carts and uses these lifting devices to load/unload materials from pallets, skids and platforms
- Receives
and labels stock items and ensure they are placed in correct storage
location and recorded for input into internal inventory management system
- Accurately and appropriately files or directs correspondence, invoices and receipts
- Adhere to established safe working standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times such as steel toe shoes (mandatory), ear plugs, gloves, etc. when required
- Manages inventory of shipping materials and supplies
- Assists in other production related duties such as unloading and unwrapping paper rolls, bindery activities (cutting, boxing, padding, wrapping), etc.
- Cleans work areas and contributes to the general upkeep of the warehouse and production areas
- Adhere to pandemic protocols as set out by the company
Abilities Required
- Computer knowledge
- Five (5) years of shipping/receiving experience
- Forklift experience, preference given to operators hold a valid certificate
- Able to work at heights, position requires you to operate a high reach aisle order picker
- Extended time on feet; walking distances up to 200 feet
- Frequent stooping, bending, walking, carrying, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
- Must be detail oriented
- Ability to read and write English proficiently
