The YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth is looking for a Human Resources Manager to join our team and to work in collaboration with YMCAs across Atlantic Canada to support a shared people vision.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer, as Human Resources Manager you will serve as a shared resource among multiple YMCAs and will work towards positioning the YMCA as an Employer of Choice in the region.  Specifically you will:

·         Provide leadership and oversight to the YMCA’s Talent Management program and supporting processes. Including Recruitment, Learning & Development, Employee Engagement, Performance Management, Total Rewards, and Organizational Development.

·         Develop strategic, values-based HR programs, policies, and program that enable delivery upon the YMCA’s purpose of Building Healthy Communities through the Power of Belonging.

·         Support leadership team(s) in the navigation of complex employee relations, leave of absence, accommodation, and organizational realignment

·         Ensure consistent application and compliance with HR policy, best practice, and legislative standards.  Develop effective HR systems, KPIs, and analytics

You Bring

·         Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, CPHR designation would prove an asset

·         5-7 Years of experience in Human Resources Generalist, Organizational Development, or Consulting

·         Strong working knowledge of Atlantic Canadian Provincial employment legislation, common law

·         Previous experience in non-profit sector would be an asset

·         Strong Leadership and Business Acumen

·         Demonstrated strong collaboration, problem solving, and interpersonal skills

·         Demonstrated ability to handle multiple, competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment

·         Strong attention to detail and commitment to process improvement

·         High level of diplomacy and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive, confidential situations or information

·         Strong communication and presentation skills

·         Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites

·         Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) be an asset

·         Successful completion of background and child abuse registry, and valid driver’s license

·         Multilingual would be an asset (i.e. French, Arabic, etc.)

·         Flexibility to travel and work irregular hours

·         Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of valid First Aid and CPR training.  Employees will be required to attend YMCA Child Protection Training.
