Site Safety and Training Officer - St. Gabriel, LA/ TWIC REQUIRED

Brown Eagle is the leading provider of onsite and 3rd party material handling and logistics solutions to the chemical industry in the US Gulf Coast Region. We are hiring a Site Safety Coordinator Officer to work at a chemical plant located in St. Gabriel, LA.


The Site Safety Coordinator shall actively engage in the prevention and control of industrial accidents in a supply chain environment (packaging and warehouse areas).  Further, the Safety Coordinator shall provide initial and continued training to employees regarding safety policies, life safety procedures, safety culture, and other safety programs.


Accountable and Reports to the Site Project Manager and Brown Eagle President



  • Directs Brown-Eagle’s safety programs at the Client site
  • Coordinates with the Client in developing, implementing, and managing safety programs, policies, and procedures to coincide with those of the Client
  • Responsible for developing safety orientation training for new hires, which complies with both OSHA and Client site requirements
  • Conducts Safety Orientation Training for all new employees
  • Responsible for developing annual safety training which complies with OSHA and Client requirements
  • Conducts required Annual Safety Training for all employees
  • Maintaining the records of new hire safety training and annual safety training
  • Provides Emergency On-Call for Coverage for accidents, injuries, near miss incidents on holidays, weekends and after business hours. Returns to the plant and takes or meets employees at Total Occupational Medical Clinic or hospital as required by injury.
  • Files First Report of Injury with LWCC following an injury and provides additional information when requested
  • Responsible for maintenance of safety and accident records.
  • Co-ordinates Return to Work Authorization with Medical Provider
  • Conducts accident, injury, near-miss and unsafe condition investigations (5-why and/or Tap Root)
  • Develops corrective actions to address findings
  • Must be aware of federal, state and local safety laws to ensure the organization complies with all regulations
  • Maintains OSHA 300 logs for Company
  • Leads and directs the Safety work of Brown-Eagle Supervisors and Operators
  • Outlines and implements training programs about
    • employee safety procedures
    • employee accident protection
    • employee accident prevention
  • Solicits feedback from employees to ensure that their needs are addressed
  • Responsible for performing safety audits and maintenance of safety audit records
  • Corrects unsafe actions and conditions when observed
  • Co-ordinates with Client to ensure safety audit recommendations are implemented
  • Conducts Safety Meetings
  • Participates in Client Safety Meetings
  • Member of Client Safety Committees
  • Schedules Annual Physicals
  • Reports to Brown Eagle Site Superintendent and Company President
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Maintains COSS and COSM Certification
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned




  • Working knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA) is required.
  • 5 years of safety training and auditing experience required.
  • Safety certificate(s), including COSS required (COSM is preferred)
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or a closely related field and/or previous experience in safety/loss control preferred.
  • Previous Lift Truck Training experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Office programs required.
  • Possess the ability to motivate others to achieve desired results. Deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Analytical ability and mental alertness required to ensure accurate and thorough completion of work activities, data interpretation, and analysis. Ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.



Work is performed in varying conditions; warehouse environment, warehouse temperatures are ambient ranging from 50 degrees to 90 degrees and temperature-controlled office environment.

Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desks or computer terminals. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to walk significant distances daily.

Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
