About the Role
Kokanee Springs Resort is seeking an experienced Golf Course Irrigation Technician to operate, maintain, and repair our irrigation system. This role is critical to ensuring turf health and consistent playing conditions. You’ll also assist with general golf course maintenance as part of the grounds team.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the golf course irrigation system daily.
- Maintain and repair irrigation components (pumps, controllers, sprinklers, valves, pipes).
- Troubleshoot system issues and perform necessary repairs.
- Keep accurate records of irrigation maintenance and repairs.
- Adjust irrigation schedules based on turf moisture levels.
- Assist with irrigation upgrades, renovations, and seasonal tasks (spring start-up, winterization).
- Train and supervise staff assisting with irrigation repairs.
- Perform general golf course maintenance tasks, including mowing, bunker care, and landscaping.
Qualifications
- Previous experience with golf course irrigation systems, including repairs on pipes up to 8”, valves, pump stations, and controllers.
- Knowledge of turfgrass health, disease identification, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks (lifting up to 25 kg, digging, kneeling).
- Comfortable with early start times (as early as 3:30 am) and working weekends.
- Experience operating turf maintenance and excavation equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Steel-toe boots required; work gloves and rain gear recommended.
